Virtual Iranian.com tour to Iran

Commenting on the work of one of the great contributors of this website a funny thought occurd to me. Imagine we set up a tour of all Iranian.com contributors to Iran and we assign them some responsibilities along the way. Let your imagination loose and come up with something funny! But be courteous!

I recommended Fred to be the tour guide. As all of us sitting in the Iranian.com tour bus, he stands up and tells us what Islamic Rapist Republic did exactly what at what place, then he bends and asks the driver to stop so he can get Baaghaali from his favorite place in Sarcheshmeh...

DK notices the golden Aftabeh from the Golestan Palace's bathroom is missing and gives us a grief.

Monda, makes sure everyone is in line and behave well.

Azadeh, is sitting way back and think why the hell I am here with these morons!

Abarmard, is pulling down Capt Ayhab's shirt telling him, "sit I can't see"!

I leave the rest to you...

I love to hear your words about me.

Midwesty..

by Was Rosie on

I don't think there ARE any rules because Jahanshah's not a rulesy kinda guy. The only hard and fast RULE there is is no potty language--which of course isn't hard and fast, because what constitutes potty language. I feel calling someone a 'worm' is more of a four letter word than saying brain f-rt (you knew I was kidding around with you when I said that on the other blog, right? ;O).

I think the imposition of this 'rule', this crackdown was a way of saying, look, there is SOMETHING called civil discourse and people have to think about that before they write. And ALSO--if you people don't take it upon yourselves to let me know (by flagging for those who so choose) what YOU consider the parameters (always fluid) to be as a community, then I'll just have to do it all on my own.

That's not exactly addressing the situation right here, except that I think the publisher may be trying to convey a strong message that it's no longer cool to just open up a new account right after you've been blocked without his consent.

That would be my best guess.  (And who knows, Midwesty, if the publisher is not unhappy that this conversation is taking place..). Oh yeah, and I forgot, Jahanshah's role on the bus--airhead--I mean air--for the tires. lol

Midwesty

Well,

by Midwesty on

At this point I am not concerned with the time I put in this. I want to learn what the rules are so we can all follow. The starting point is that I want to know who gets to choose to delete what things? Then I need to know what did WasTellIt do that his/her comment deserved to be deleted. I don't know why you got so defensive.

I am not asking for too much. I want just to learn the rules so next time I'll be carefull not to trip any alarm.

We've been through this discussions with JJ many times.  I am not sure what the rules are today.

Does anyone else know this here?

Was Rosie

Anahid...(just saw your last post). PS

by Was Rosie on

It's every bit as worthy of concern and important as anything here. The issues are: possible repression or censorship, harrassment, collective versus individual (publisher's) running of the site, etc. It's crucial for here, and it's also a microcosm of the problems in Iran.

PS No, sorry, just saw your NEXT TO LAST post, we cross-posted just now.

Dear Midwesty, try to put yourself in my shoes

by Anahid Hojjati on

I have tried to explain the issue to you but you insist on seeing the time that you have spent on this blog of utmost importance and you minimize other concerns.  If the IC community wants to rise above the school yard bullying, deletion of wasTellIt comments is the kind of price they have to be willing to pay.  Remember  the famous saying. Even though this time it was me who was targetted, someday a person like this can target you or any other IC user.  Believe me that at that time, you wish that users and writers of IC care more about fairness and creation of an atmosphere free of abuse and harassment than they would care about deletion of couple comments.

Was Rosie

Please excuse my (once again) appearing to some people

by Was Rosie on

to be hogging the blog--I mean hogging yet another blog with my pontifications-- but I thought the issue was that Wastellit had had her account blocked and promptly opened another one without asking the OWNER for permission. And no, I'm not speaking as self-appointed 'moderator' or 'morality police' or 'khareji' 'foreign meddler'. I'm PARTICIPATING in a conversation that I didn't start.

Midwesty

Anahid,

by Midwesty on

Who is the judge of that?

Anahid Hojjati

Some care more about a comment of WasTellIt than fate of Iran

by Anahid Hojjati on

The amount of concern that is given to a supposedly funny comment on this thread seems to be more than concern given recently to many important issues.  Personally I found KouroushS' comment much funnier since it was not malicious and it was all in good fun while WasTellIT had agenda in her comment.

Fouzul Bashi

I see wastellit was rounded up and made disappear!

by Fouzul Bashi on

He had not used any obscenity and was the funniest comment on this blog!!  This is most unfair and arbitrary.

Well, it seems we are in Iran after all, and are soaking up the atmosphere!!!

I am off the bus Midwesty jan. Thanks bro for all the effort and good will.  Shit happens ;) I go visit some satirists in jail ;)

Midwesty, you and I cross-posted. Otherwise my post would've been written to both of you and it would've been different in form and style but not in essence.

Buses go into potholes and over bumps in the road, and take wrong turns and stall, etc. Sometimes hiking boots get too tight....and still the tour moves on...

no pain, no gain...

To 'Marjan'

by Raoul1955 on

I am laughing so hard.  As a matter of fact I had to wait till I could settle down before writing this note.  First and foremost you really have an imaginative mind, not to mention your linguistic abilities along with your wit!
I just can’t believe what you wrote about 'Raoul.'   Raoul was actually a character played by a certain actor about my age in 'certain type' of movies back in the late seventies.  I am laughing hard again.  A female friend of mine decided to call me 'Raoul' after she and I watched a dozen movies featuring that actor back in 1982-83.
What you wrote here is very much befitting that character.
Cheers,
‘Raoul’

Was Rosie

Anahid, it was all PART of the blog..

by Was Rosie on

what you did, equal, not more or less important. The blog is a trip to Iran. Iran is not a unified place or a bed of roses (no pun intended). The blog is a trip to I.C. Iran on top of it. Rifts here are political, personal, often both mixed in. All will show up on the blog. If they don't, the blog wasn't worth its salt, because palliatives and feel-goods can only last just so long if the root causes of frictions are not addressed. Anahid, whether or not your claims about the registrant were true or to what extent is not my purview. It is the publisher's and if he took the drastic step he did here, obviously there was something to them. And the fate of the post is between Midwesty and him, or TellIt and him, etc.  Or anyone for that matter in the community who wishes to address it with him. But not to you, to the publisher.

Well I have a couple of other things to say (surprise surprise lol), but that one I wanted to say right now to Anahid. And also to throw in that:

on the bus MPD takes up nine seats and then there are ninety more and one for Jamshid and then he has his hundred men and women. To go hiking with Rea.

Where Q will lead another hiking group and the two of them will meet at the top of the hill. And...

argue all night long...

lol

Thanks Midwesty.

Anahid jan,

by Midwesty on

Something is more important than blog and it's responsibility. I believe if every one of us does his/her job the world would a much better place. I felt morally responsible to give a good time to everyone and I felt responsible for my job at work too. So...I worked entire Saturday and Sunday to make up for the time that spent here. I am lucky to be in the position that a few people look over my shoulder and I am at freedom to make my own schedule. But that's might not be the case for everyone here all the time.

Give people the benefit of doubt and people will return the favor. Just do it! "Nike" said. ;O)

No problem Anahid...let it pass. I am drunkard of the music I loaded today. It's been such a long time that I have not listened to these...Let's dance...Shall we!

Anahid Hojjati

Dear Midwesty, somethings in life are more important than blog

by Anahid Hojjati on

As fun as your blog was, at some point it became tribune for wastellit and ghorme chic to harrass others. This wastellit spends huge percentage of his online time to make negative comments about me. I have had comment exchanges with couple other IC writers but online behavior of wastellit regarding me has been clear harassment starting from when he was no was. I have not read all comments on this thread but you talk about if I have respect for freedom of expression, I have to give u wastellit comments back. First I do not have, someone else has it and besides
Please be cool and realistic about importance of your blog. It may be fun at times but it can not come at expense of other users..

I've got a better one for you. You've got to have my favorite:

humanbeing

beautiful

by humanbeing on

you've put so much into this.

i'm looking at them one by one.

quite typical that mine didn't embed, since i keep complaining on comments that i don't know how to embed clips. the funny thing is, i wasn't even able to open it! i'm probably too old for blogging, and my teenager at home is out!

i'm sure i would like it. if you tell me the artist/song, i'll search it on youtube. but you've had enough homework for one day.

thankx
