The reverence of the World, My Earth, the beloved land
Outwardly glorious, in all its might, the germ of our being, all in all

Loving the dust, the drop of each water, mesmerized, by its vastness
Catapulted to greatness, the very visual, majesty, and all its glory, for everyone to see

Come my darling, gather for this feast, for all there to know, the very Mother, of our being
Suckling on its very nipples, the ferocity of our passion, nowhere else in Universe, but right here, on our good Earth

As the days of the past, meandering, from infinity gone, for the one yet to come
Embrace its sweetness, the passion of its existence, from here-to-fore, in all its form, yes my darling, all in all

Taste the sweetness in my mouth, kiss my lips, yes my darling, make passionate love with me
All unknown, yet everything known, yes my sweet, hold me, let me embrace you, in all its form, yes my darling, sweet by and by

My brother Moses, in all its glory, admonished the love of its soil
Sweet Jesus, while on the cross, with all Trinity, yet not willing, to kiss its very Earth, no my darling, sweet by and by

Our beloved Mohammad, hand in hand, with sweet Bahaullah
Missing the whole thing, yes my darling, unbeknownst to them, even, to their very followers

My darling, this very Earth, is indeed, our Mother
Not some mumbo-jumbo in the sky, no my darling, but this very earth, is indeed, our Mother

Love it, worship it, protect it, yes my sweet, and nurture it
Nothing else, no my darling, but its very bosom, the dome of our creation, our very good Earth, yes my sweet, as it's indeed, our Mother

All the angels, from the throne of God, coming down, to keep us company
Yes my sweet, this is their throne, and indeed, God’s kingdom, and nothing else, now come, and protect, this very good Earth, as it’s indeed, our Mother

My darling, hold my hands, as we spread the seed of our love, to populate, this good Earth
Yes my darling, our passion, and indeed, our love, now come, for the very manifestation, of our sweet love, and life, on this very good Earth, as it’s indeed. our Mother

 Dear PT,

Hi! Thank you for the link for Zourkhaneh and Varzesh-e Pahlavani (Sport of The Heroes). There is no way I could spell Zourkhaneh by watching the video. The info from Wikipedia is very interesting. The whole thing is from the Sufi tradition, the sufi whirling, wow! Those guys are super disciplined, that is great! Your people are way more disciplined than my people! :O) My new year resolution is to work on my discipline.

I have ordered the Power of Myth DVD's on Amazon.com for $63.00. Hopefully, I can received them before the holidays are over (Jan 4). I read more pages from the World's Religions book today.

Please take good care of yourself!

One Other Note ...

by Passing Through on

I have seen The Power Of Myth series at least half a dozen times over the years

Each time that I watch it, I get something fresh out of it

P.S. If you download it into your hard-drive, then it would be easy to do that :)

Dear yolanda

I am glad you enjoyed the video:

Zoroastrianism, as the video indicated, was the first monotheistic religion - Before Judaism, Christianity, and Islam

Zourkhaneh is where Varzesh-e Pahlavani (Sport of The Heroes) is done

Regarding The Power Of Myth series, each video is about one hour long

To be honest with you, I personally think that it's a good investment to buy it

If you get its DVD, and have a DVD-Drive on your computer, then you can download the entire six (6) programs on to your hard-drive in a compressed format (ie. wmv - Window Media Video, etc.), and watch it anytime you want :)

On my hard-drive, all the six (6) programs in total took less than 4.20 GB of memory

Take Good Care Of Yourself Sweetheart :)

PT

P.S. Once you start watching The Power Of Myth series, start from video 1, and proceed forward - There is a sequencing to the series :)

 Dear PT,

Hi! I watched the video "People of the Flame: Iran". It was great! Here is the highlights:

1) It is amazing that 4 religions originated in Iran. The 3 magis in the Bible were Zoroastrian priests. I read about Zoroastrianism in Wikipedia before, they said the same thing.

2) I agree with the photojournalist in the video that Farsi has very strong "H" sound. Apparently "H" sound can appear anywhere in a Farsi word: the beginning, the middle, and the end. It is very interesting.

3) I like the beautiful volcano lava formation in the video. People are so smart that they carved their homes from the lava formation, the interior is just beautiful! In Ajerbaijan, there is a Rocky Hotel built with the lava formation. I read it on Payvand's website.

4) My favrorite part of the video is that the Australian guy ate dinner with the Iranian family. It was so cool to eat on a beautiful Persian carpet. They were like a happy family together and they respected each other and had a guys' talk and sang together. It was a great moment, a touching moment! I love to see people with different religions co-exist in harmony! The only disappointment is that there was no women at the dinner. Maybe it is their tradition to eat separately.

5) The video showed a scene in Zakana(?) (the religious gym), whole bunch of very disciplined guys did exercise together. I watched a BBC video several months ago, it has the similar scene.....now I understand why they rotate during the exercise, it originated from the Sufi tradition, the rotation brings them closer to God, it is very interesting that I have started to put 2 and 2 together! Yeah!!!

6) Zoroasntrian girls seem to wear very colorful clothes and it is very pretty!

******************

I called a local library, they have the Power of Myth book, but not the video. The lady told me that the Main Library in the downtown has it, but it is closed today. I will try to go there tomorrow.

I found out that You-tube has 6 segments of Power of Myth video, 10 minutes each......I will watch them when I have time later.

I have started to read the "World's Religions" book. It says that Mohammad was illiterate and never went to school. My question is that who wrote Koran? Mohammad or his followers?

Thank you and please take a good care of yourself!

My Sweet yolanda

by Passing Through on

I am so glad that you enjoyed the book

Regarding The Power Of Myth videos:

The series came out in 1988, but actually, I didn't watch it until 1997

PBS had one of their fund-raising events, and they showed it

I loved it so much that I first got it on loan from our local Public Library, and then I purchased its VHS - There were six (6) tapes

To be honest with you, I don't think that there is that much difference between the editions

However, I do want to caution you on one thing: If the VHS videos are too old, you may have trouble  playing them;  you know how VHS tapes sag over the years

My suggestion is get the DVD of the series if you have a DVD Player - If you don't, then get the most recent edition of the VHS

Please let me know if you need additional help,

Take Care Of Yourself Sweetheart :)

PT

P.S. You really don't need rthe companion book for the series - The series are pretty self explanatory, and straightforward :)

Hi Humility,

I got the poem from the following video.  This video has over 15 Rumi's poems, it runs super fast and it gives you only several seconds to read one poem......the "afraid" poem still caught my attention right away. I think I can identify with Rumi's emotion. If someone you are so afraid to get; or so hard to get, you will cherish the person for a life time! I really like Rumi's poems 'cause a lot of them are very spiritual and philosophical. His love poems are absolutely great! I found another website this morning. I believe the farsi version of his poems are way better than the English ones 'cause they rhyme better.  //peacefulrivers.homestead.com/Rumilove.html

Thank you!! Take care!!

 Dear PT,

Hi! I've finished reading the Jabez book! Yeah! It is a very cool book 'cause it is very practical and has the testimony by the author. It helped me understand the 4 verses...initially I did not understand the verse "enlarge my territory".....I thought I did not need any "territory" 'cause I am not a very ambitious person...:O))...and then I realized that it refers to you can make more impact and touch more lives....so I do need to enlarge my territory....because of the job I have, I work with 140 people a day, so if I do the right thing, I can influence people in the positive way......someone like me needs to imitate Jabez....thank you so much for recommending this wonderful book. I have e-mailed a couple and recommended the same book to them. I told them that it is a great and short book, I finished the book in one day!!

I have checked the videos on Amazon and Half.com. They have 3 editions, of course the older edition is cheaper. They have 1989, 1998, and 2001 editions......My question: What year did you watch the program on TV? 2001 edition is about $65, the 1989 edition is about $25 to $30.  My question: Do you think all the editions are pretty much the same in content?

Thank you!!! Please take good care of yourself!

Humility

Hi yolanda!

by Humility on

I came across this poem by Rumi that you had posted in the New Moshaere blog by Souri:

“When I saw you, I was afraid to meet you... When I met you, I was afraid to kiss you... When I kissed you, I was afraid to love you... Now that I love you, I'm afraid to lose you.”

I think that this is an absolutely beautiful poem!

P.S. I sincerely hope that one day you would be able to find this person!

 Dear PT,

Hi! I just finished reading all the newspapers from this week! I was so busy Monday thru Friday that I accumulated a lot of unread newspapers. Finally I have caught up with my reading. I will start the Jabez book tomorrow and also watch the video link you provided, The People Of The Flame: IRAN, after that, the World religion book, and then work on the Rumi poster, and then I will either borrow The Power Of Myth videos from library or buy it from Amazon.com or half.com.

Thank you and Humility for recommending the The Power Of Myth video. I am sure it is very exciting! Thank you!!

I keep finding interesting stuff on-line. 2 days ago, I found a website with Rumi's poems and references, I did not get a chance to read them all, only bookmark the website, I will read all the poems later:

//www.armory.com/~thrace/sufi/poems.html

Thank you so much for everything!!!

Please take good care of yourself!!!!
