How do you explain to a Palestinian child he must ration his drinking water so an Israeli can swim?

Palestine News Netowrok (PNN),
Editorial / Mitri I. Musleh
September 25, 2008

Over the past 60 years or so the situation in Palestine has reached astronomical dimensions that stretch far beyond what could have been expected.

In the midst of it all, Palestinians past and present have watched their young killed, jailed or exiled, their homes blown up, their fields ravished and their olive trees uprooted, their freedoms ripped away from them and their country depleted by the day.

All of this was done to them by Israel and its supporters in the name of freedom, godly wish and imperialism.

How do you explain to a young Palestinian that his father is being kept in Israeli jail because he was born Palestinian? How do you explain to a young Palestinian that his sibling was shot because he or she wanted to look out of the window? How do you explain to a young Palestinian that he has to ration his drinking water so an Israeli youngster can swim? How do you explain to a young Palestinian that all of the countries in the world are against you because you keep saying no to occupation, corruption and imperialism?

The Palestinian leadership is meeting in Cairo in October, 2008 for yet another round of reconciliation. The unfortunate precursor to such a meeting is the number of times they have met in the past and how many times they expect to meet in the future to further discuss national unity.

The Palestinian people are tired of all the talk, disagreements and the time wasting agenda their leaders claim they need to eventually deliver a national home for the Palestinians.

While the Palestinian leadership is busy talking and dealing, the Israeli leadership is confiscating and dividing the land as they see fit. In addition, there are the academics, scholars and intellectuals who love to debate and hypothesize about conflicts and solutions.

Two theories have been debated as a solution to the Palestinian/Israeli dilemma. One issue has to do with a "Two State Solution" where Israel and Palestine can live side by side in peace and harmony. The second theory calls for a "One State Solution" where Palestinian and Israelis live together under one flag while enjoying equal rights and freedoms. As romantic and enticing these ideas may seem, the fact on the ground remains bleak and dangerous. The problem on the ground is not whether to establish one state or two states solution, nor is it a problem of reconciliation or lack of. The problem being displayed on stage is a problem of occupation and oppression.

Long before discussing a one or two state solution, there must be an agreement to end the occupation.

However, an end to the occupation will never materialize as long as the Palestinian leadership is divided and in constant struggle to control the decision making at the helm.
Without a unified objective to the Palestinian struggle, Palestine will remain under Israeli occupation and the Palestinians will remain oppressed by an unrelenting Israeli leadership.

If the Cairo conference fails to deliver a strong and committed Palestinian unity government, Palestine will remain occupied and the Palestinians will remain oppressed, tortured and robbed of their properties by Israel and its imperialist supporters.

Typical; PNN Proganda

by Ma'at (not verified) on

How do you tell a Palestinian child that he is to become a suicide bomber? Easy, you tell him to listen to PNN.

The reality is that both sides have issues they must address. Until both come to terms with this, the innocent victims will suffer. PNN propoganda is of no benefit in reaching a solution to the conflict.

I beg to differ with you. In reality you are trying to stifle open
and honest polemics about a given subject. The gentleman had
presented a pov to which he sees it important for others to read.
Since as Israelis we do not agree with the content of the argument -
we present our side of the story.

what I am trying to present here is that, there are two sides to
each coin. If we strongly believe in the foundation of Israel as the
land from which we had originated from. A land of which we have never
ever gave up the dream of some day return to, and we did return. A
homeland for Jews to escape the holocaust and despicable dhimmi
system.

You may see the creation of Israel as result of injustice to pals.
We see it as homeland for the Jews to return to the land of their
ancestors. Iranians have the same long and ancient history as Jews.
They ought to appreciate Jews sentiment to their holy sites

With good will we can find an equitable solution for the tragic
inflicted upon the Pals w/o the destruction of other people lives and
country.

I tell him it's not my problem. My own children are missing drinking water and have never had a swimming pool. I tell him I sympatheize but there are other arab countries to help him. I have my own problems and have had enough of worrying about palestine!

Hi Prince,

You will be attacked and rediculed and called an IRI agent. If you care about Human Rights, it only applies to IRI, othewise you ARE IRI. One hanging of a criminal in Iran is more important than 1 Million deaths of Arabs.

These are the rules pro WAR Zionist have set up on this site. By now they have already emailed each other and will start coming and hit you like hungry wolves. You are not supposed to talk about Palestine, and if you do, you are supposed to blame the victim. Who ever is dying or being ethnically cleansed, the problem is his own fault.

Why did Palestinians DARE be born in that land? Didn't they know it was promised to Israel by God? Now they have to pay for that mistake by being killed.

Just to give you a fair warning. Good luck, thanks for the article.

Please spare me the grieving heart.

In past 500 years more then 70% of the land mass on this earth, their original indigenous people no longer live, or own their land. The entire American continent. Ausralia, part of Europe and Canada.

In past 70 years, more  then 130M people have  lost their land and possession. During WWII People from all religions and ethnics, more then 15M Jews, gypsies and other dark skinned people were perished by the German. 8M Hindus were thrown out  of their homes by Pakistanis over the border.

Since then, each and every group picked up the pieces and with help with the international community have found another peaceful solution, and moved on - all except the Pals who revolve their lives and future on  revenge.

more then 2M Sudanese in Darfur are dieing because of their ethnic make up. Don't you think that, these people also need their land and homes.

So why the rest of humanity should focus its energy and contued to support a group of people who's own leadership jhad failed them time and again.

you write:

So,... what you say is that because the palestinian leaders were
religious and stupid, Palestinians have no land?

Will you suprise to learn that, legaly they did not own the land where the were working the farms. That does not mean, they should not have land. They should have, but not the entire state of Israel, which they want.

And

because the palestinian leaders were religious and stupid, millions of Europeans
can force themselves on their land and bulldoze their home

If Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt where 1.2M Jews had lived there for centuries, before they were expelled from their homes and shops were looted by Arabs and Muslims, are "Europeans"  in your book. Then maybe you should re-examine the facts.

Prior to 1967, Pals had all the E. Jerusalem, Gaza & WB to themselves - devoid of Israeli occupation. Why didn't they demand from Egypt & Jordan whom were occupying their land to get out and form their own state of Palestine. They didn't, and suffer the consequences.

Blame it all on Israel ha?. Fortunately the rest of the world became anesthetized to the Pals senseless and heinous homicide bombing. Since 2000 when they start with suicide bombing, they have lost any remnant of sympathy left  for them.

Human rights and justice

by IRANdokht on

Any justification of why there are people on this earth who are not treated fairly and in humane way is atrocious!!!

Today's leaders who are taking revenge on the poor people and base it on some bogus prior history are just criminals.

Nobody hates anybody's freedoms as insinuated by GWB. When someone is abused, punished unjustly, discriminated against and finds himself/herself hopeless, they are left with no choice but to take other measures to get their message heard.

You want to fight terrorism? you want to win the war against terrorists? Then stop producing more hopeless people around the word. Stop the abuse, stop the racial supremecy nonsense and start respecting human rights.

Thank you The Prince

Just wondering.

Here is how you Explain.

by Mehdi Mazloom on

How do you explain to a Palestinian child?

first you sit him on the floor. Then you tell him the following facts:.

1.  Back in 1947 we the Pals had a chance to have our own state (It is described in UN Resolution 181). But our leaders did not want to live in peace and harmony with the Jews who have been living here for 3000 years.

2. Back in 15 May 1948, We were stupid enough to believe our leaders of glory future if we kill the Jews. As result we went to war against the Israelis and lost - our homes and land.

3. Between 1948-1967, we were ruled by Jordan and Egypt. They didn't treat us any better then the Israelis who replaced them

4. After we lost that war, our own Arab "Brothers" have been keeping us in refugee camps in their countries, while those of us who accepted the new paradigm and became citizen in the new Jewish country, are the ONLY Palestinians who live as free people. They never lost their homes, nor their land. It is funny ha my little boy.

5. Back in 2000, we had another chance to have our own state. But our "revered"  Rai'ise Arafat walked away from it all. He wanted Israelis total surrender.

6. Here is my little boy, I will read you some passages from our democratically elected Hamas's own charter.

Our struggle against the Jews is
very great and very serious. It needs all sincere efforts. It is a
step that inevitably should be followed by other steps. The Movement
is but one squadron that should be supported by more and more
squadrons from this vast Arab and Islamic world, until the enemy is
vanquished and Allah's victory is realised.

Here are more doses of the blind hate which our leaders teach us.

The
Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement,
whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It
strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine,
for under the wing of Islam followers of all religions can coexist in
security and safety where their lives, possessions and rights are
concerned. In the absence of Islam, strife will be rife, oppression
spreads, evil prevails and schisms and wars will break out.

7. And When we didn't get what we wanted (total destruction of Israel, and subjugate the Jews). Then we started with heinous homicide bombing against Israeli children of your age.

You see dear son!. We are dumb enough to never miss an opportunity to miss and opportunity. We just pretend to be fighting for land. In reality it is our blind hatred toward the Jews which is the real reason why you have to ration your water.

We are taught to love death. The Israelis are taught to love life.

Living people need water. Dead ones don't need water.

Is thgis true?

by SaeedKafili (not verified) on

"How do you explain to a young Palestinian that his father is being kept in Israeli jail because he was born Palestinian"

Really?
Is this a crime?
Many are jailed on that charge?
How much time do you do for that?
What does it mean 'born Palestinian'? Like, who is born Palestinian, or Iranian?
Just curious.
