It wasn’t so long ago that the Obama administration was proudly proclaiming success in dealing with Iran, succeeding where the Bush administration had failed. For a time, a presumably weakened and isolated Iran was less of a worry. Today, America’s Iran policy looks to be in disarray. The administration’s claims of victory ring hollow. Far from subdued, Iran is more defiant and belligerent. And the broad international coalition that the U.S. built against the country has splintered>>>

بزرگ‌ترین خطر نه تحریم‌های سنگین و یا حتا حمله نظامی بلکه فقدان رهبری سیاسی ملی است

در صورت حمله نظامی به ایران، رژیم حاکم به سختی می‌تواند (همانند جنگ عراق) با توسل به احساسات ملی یا مذهبی ایرانیان، آنان را در حمایت از خود بسیج کند. نه حملات احتمالی غرب یا اسراییل (بر خلاف عراق) به طمع تصاحب ارضی صورت خواهد گرفت، نه خامنه‌ای اعتبار یا اقتداری همانند خمینی برای بسیج مردم دارد، و نه مردمی که علیه نظام به پا خاسته‌اند با اشتیاق به دفاع از رژیم برخواهند خاست. رژیم در سطح جهانی تنها شده و در داخل کشور نیز هر روز تنهاتر می‌شود>>>

Watching the seeming chaos of the Occupy protests and the general lack of organization or the absence of any real political practical point to them, eerily reminds me of Iranians. We too have in many ways protested our plight as the fast dying last least free people on earth. Well, not exactly. Well, sort of. If being haplessly un-free was Maple Syrup, Iran would be the world's Waffle House. And the joke, is entirely on us.>>>
