در باره سیر حرکت عظیم مردمی که این روزها در مصر در جریان است، و آینده این کشور، گمانه‌زنی‌های زیادی صورت گرفته است. این گمانه‌زنی‌ها از برآمدن یک حکومت اسلامی بنیادگرا گرفته تا استقرار یک دموکراسی لیبرال را در بر می‌گیرد. جهان غرب از یک سو و دولت‌ها و ملت‌های منطقه از سوی دیگر با اشتیاق تمام این تحولات را دنبال می‌کنند. همگان تقریبا بر این نکته اتفاق دارند که آن چه امروز در مصر می‌گذرد اثراتی به مراتب وسیع‌تر از محدوده مرزهای آن خواهد داشت. برخی آن را با انقلاب ۱۳۵۷ ایران مقایسه می‌کنند. گروهی اهمیت آن را با سقوط بلوک کمونیسم در آغاز دهه ۱۹۹۰ میلادی برابر می‌گیرند>>>

Having experienced how the United States had sold out the shah under President Jimmy Carter – leaving Iran in the hands of fanatic mullahs bent on killing them – the family has always felt that it is living on thin ice and does not want to cause "trouble" for its reluctant American hosts. It has tried to keep a low profile and, frankly, has always feared that it could be assassinated by agents of the Islamic regime in this country – which are many, particularly in the national Capitol area>>>

اصلن مهم نیست که درست همین حالا پرنده ای از بالای سرت می گذرد، بی آنکه حتی نگاهت بکند. اصلن مهم نیست که در کناره های ساحل جزیره غول عاشقی غرق شده باشد بی آنکه حتی صدای آخرین آخش را شنیده باشی. اصلن مهم نیست که تو درحال گذار از وهم تاریخ گذشته ای باشی که حتی هجاهای بی صدایش خاطر عزیزت را مکدر کرده باشد. درست همین حالا دو کودکی را به یاد می آورم که پدرشان سر دار رفته است>>>

According to the BBC Persian, the Iranian media in the last few days hve been taking to the claim that the developments in Egypt and Tunis are reflections of the Iran’s revolution in Bahman of 1357. In a televised interview broadcast just a few days ago, University of Michigan History Professor Juan Cole described the Tunisian uprising as not only “the first popular revolution since [the Iranian revolution of] 1979,” but also “something that other Arab countries might well look to -- the public, at least -- for inspiration”. Coming from a Middle East expert, who is also a trained historian, this analysis is totally unacceptable because it fails to so much as even mention the historical fact that Iran’s Green Movement preceded the “mass movement” in Tunisia>>>

Daryoush Homayoun died on 28th January at the age of 82. He was a great journalist, politician, thinker, teacher and human being. He left behind hundreds of articles, books, interviews and many devoted friends and students. I met Homayoun a few times and once conducted an interview with him. We kept an on and off correspondence up to the beginning of this year. What impressed me most about Homayoun was his unwavering sincerity>>>

یکی از خواص اعدام اعمال قدرت و ایجاد ترس در بنی بشر است و ایجاد ترس در مواقع افول دولت فرخنده و فقر مردم برای بقای نظام بسیار واجب و ضروری می باشد. از این رو آمار اعدام ها در کشورهای دیکتاتوری همیشه بالا می باشد و در دوران خشم و فقر مردم این آمار بالا و بالاتر می رود. حکومت های اقتدارگرا با توسل جستن به اعدام و به خصوص اعدام در ملاء عام میزان ترس را در کنه وجود مردم بالا برده و مدام بر عمر حکومت خویش می افزایند>>>

فکر به نابودی مورچه ها برای خیلی از مردم شهر به نوعی سرگرمی و بهانه ی زندگی تبدیل شده و برخی از شهروندان اصولن از حضور مورچه ها نگران و پریشان نیستند؛ خوب جانم! مورچه ها هستند، چه کنیم؟ این بیچاره ها سرشان به کار خودشان بند است و آنقدرها هم که گفته می شود، آزاری ندارند! فکر نمی کنید اگر مورچه ها را زیبا ببینید، گاه مفید هم بنظر می رسند؟! >>>

منطقه خاور میانه آبستن حوادثی است. در لبنان، حزب الله قدرت خود را در سقوط حکومت نشان داده است و اکنون برای ایجاد حکومت مطلوب خود زورآزمایی می‌کند. در فلسطین، مذاکرات صلح با سماجت اسراییل در توسعه شهرک‌ها در مناطق اشغالی به بن‌بست برخورد، و اکنون نشر اسناد محرمانه‌ای که حاکی از دست و دل بازی مذاکره کنندگان فلسطینی در عرضه امتیاز به اسراییل بوده، به اعتبار حکومت خودگردان فلسطینی به شدت صدمه زده و زمینه را برای افزایش نفوذ و اعتبار حماس فراهم کرده است>>>
