Re HR
by Arj on Sat Dec 17, 2011 08:21 AM PSTDear GR, one does not have to be responsible for a crime to condemn it! RP does not have to be personally implicated in the breaches of human rights during the Pahlavi rule in order to condemn them if (that is if genuinely) he is an advocate of human rights!
Misleading Comparison!
by G. Rahmanian on Sat Dec 17, 2011 08:07 AM PSTWhile Mousavi must be held accountable for what happened during the time he served as IR's Prime Minister, RP is not accountable for what happened during his father's time. This is like saying we are responsible for our fathers' acts. Such logic does not hold water.

And the regime is killing, raping and torturing as never before....
I agree with Fred on this. There seem to be a very strong element of "Revenge" amongst most of us, which clouds our judgement, preventing rational and unemotional thinking when dealing with a rather fractured opposition force desparately in need of unity under a set of common democratic aims, on top of which: overthrowing the islamist regime, and replacing it with a secular democracy
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
Re the grudge
by Arj on Sat Dec 17, 2011 06:57 AM PSTDear Fred, please... Quit character-assassinating those who criticize RP's lack of clarity on his stance on human rights and lumping them with supporters of IRI! For most of who have criticzed RP in that regard, have firmly stood against IRI's crimes and breaches of human rights. Don't we have the right to do the same with regards to the Pahlavi regime's disregard of the human rights of Iranian people?!
I believe you are among those who believe that the issue of HR and crimes related in that regard are not subject to stute of limitations and do not have expiry dates (especially with regards to Musavi and those who represent IRI). So, does this expiry date apply to Pahlavi regime's breaches of human rights? Or do you believe that crimes committed under that regime were justified and hence, tolerable and subject to exemption!
I agree
