"Rosie the Riveter" is iconic representation of American women who worked in manufacturing plants during World War II to help with the fight against fascism in Europe.
I've seen a cartoon of an Iranian woman in a black veil with the same pose, but I can not find it now otherwise I would've provided a link to it (update: here is a picture of a placard used in the San Francisco rally, but still I think there is another cartoon of the same pose somewhere).
When I was in the Saturday's Mega Rally in San Francisco I saw a photo journalist, Nazy Kaviani, taking a picture of a woman with a green band around her arm. I put two and two together and here is my version of Iranian "Roshan the Riveter", !روشن پرچ کُن.

Omid pessaram,
by Monda on Fri Jul 31, 2009 01:45 PM PDTakheh why would you provide a 2006 link on that degenerate Parvin Hosseini??
Oh someone told me just last night that Parvin Hosseini works part-time at this waxing salon on Iranshahr e saabegh (mainly specializing in super-slow bikini waxing).
Azarin dokhtaram don't do that!
by Monda on Fri Jul 31, 2009 01:47 PM PDTyou are indeed very smart and you did come up with that Parvin Hosseini comic fantasy comment below, all by yourself:o) I don't care if someone helped you with it behind my back. I know you can write and be funny. toro khoda try it more often! Laughter is contagious and really good for us.
Where is Parvin Hosseini?
by Omid Hast on Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:46 AM PDTIf anyone knows anything about whereabouts Parvin Hosseini please let me know.
//derafsh.org/daneshjo/zanan/00280-13-women.jpg
I have not been able to find any new information about the whereabouts of Parvin Hosseini.
Azarin, Thank you for your satirical account of where Parvin Hosseini might be hiding. That was very funny. It’s all for good as long as her name, and other evil people’s names, stays fresh in the minds of good people. One day these people have to pay for their crimes. That day won’t be too far away.
Monda, When you say “July 10th she was still in Iran”, are you referring to July 10th of this year, or of 2006, the date that was on the link that I provided with my previous comment. If you have seen something about her in 2009 I’d like to know what it is, and if you can provide a link. Thank you.
Ok...I have to confess!
by Azarin Sadegh on Thu Jul 30, 2009 07:30 PM PDTMonda jan, I was kidding for Parvin khanoom! I guess she's been busy these days.
But my husband's green hair story is absolutely true! I'm not that smart and I'd have never be able to imagine such a complicated story on my own!
Cheers, Azarin
July 10th she was in Iran still!
by Monda on Thu Jul 30, 2009 09:13 AM PDTthank you for that source Omid... khaak bar sareh naaghabelesh zanikeh sadist e bishooor Parvin Hoseini
seriously?? Azarin and Omid
by Monda on Thu Jul 30, 2009 09:07 AM PDThave you heard of that Zanikeh in L.A. from dependable sources?!!! or are you pulling my leg?
Azarin:see now i don't even know if i should believe that your hubby colored his hair green. but i enjoyed your sense of humor very much:o)) it sounds like a start of a good and funny piece about that Creep.
What's in a name?
by Omid Hast on Thu Jul 30, 2009 07:37 AM PDTI read somewhere that Roseanne is a variant of Roxanne (not Rose+Anne, as commonly thought), so in a way Rosie is already a variant of Roseanne. And Roxanne, Roxana, Roxanna, Roxane, Roxie, and Roxy are all different spellings of the same name in Latin, English, and French, meaning “dawn”, which is light, Roushan, or Roshan.
Hi Anonymouse,
by Omid Hast on Thu Jul 30, 2009 07:33 AM PDTI'm glad you like my hair. I think I'll leave it the way it is for now. I like the way it's darker on the bottom and then it glows on top.
Looks nice Omid!
by Anonymouse on Thu Jul 30, 2009 06:57 AM PDTLooks nice Omid! Maybe a little more green, a little more in the sides and a little less black shade on top, just a little ;-)
Everything is sacred.
Parvin Hosseini is a hairdresser now!
by Omid Hast on Thu Jul 30, 2009 05:49 AM PDTI guess it wasn’t enough for Parvin Hosseini (picture #2) to mess up women's hairs by striking them on the head with her baton, so now she is messing people's hair as a hairdresser in LA! We need to find out where she works and picket the place. We need to report her to the INS so to revoke her Green Card because of her past crimes against Iranian women.
AHA!
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jul 30, 2009 04:12 AM PDTGreen card!
It was just dyed green...
I've heard that...
by Azarin Sadegh on Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:42 AM PDTMonda jan,
I've heard that Parvin Hosseini has changed! It seems after she got famous on YouTube for beating up the women, she felt that she was too good for them...and felt that she couldn't do what she was doing, so she decided to follow her dreams! Wasn't she better looking than Arnold? It is told that she went on a diet, got a green card, and came to LA to become a star of action movies.
As much as I know, she has been working as hairdresser during the day. But now it is hard to recognize her! As she had lost too much weight, she had to plant plastic boobs and also fake blond hair too (Please blame her old "maghna-e" that she didn't like to wash!)...I'll tell you privately about her night job and acting adventure in an email (Too juicy for Iranian.com!)
BTW, it was my husband's hairdresser that told him this story, when he was dying his hair green...:-))
what the heck happened to that vulgar Parvin Hosseini?!
by Monda on Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:14 AM PDTjust wondering if she got demoted after all the publicity she received?!
Wow!
by Omid Hast on Wed Jul 29, 2009 07:36 PM PDTYour husband is a brave man, going through all those changes :O)
It's not easy to have green hair!
by Azarin Sadegh on Wed Jul 29, 2009 07:11 PM PDTIt's funny that you dyed your afro green, because my husband also did the same! It was right after Neda's death and we were all emotional! So he asked one of our friends, who goes to a hairdressing school, to dye his hair green! And he did!
I don't know about your hair, but my husband's hair was green (grass green) for a few days and everybody called him "Hey, Joker!"..then it turned to a parrot-like color and then into canary's look-alike then he became like the Gestapo officer...until he had enough and colored his hair brown (which looked like Javad Agha Ghassab for a few days) but now he is like Carrot top! Now he is going to dye it black...and I really don't know what to expect!
But anyway, I guess he feels that it was the least sacrifice he could do for Neda and the green movement!
How is that for a change!
by Omid Hast on Wed Jul 29, 2009 06:28 PM PDTI hope you can see my new hair color. I successfully dyed it green. Up to a couple of days ago I didn't care much about the green color of this movement, associating it with another religious symbol, till I saw a blog by Daruis Kadivar indicating that the color was picked by luck of a draw. So now I don't see any reason for not being in favor of green.
Yes! We are THIS!
by Azarin Sadegh on Wed Jul 29, 2009 01:16 PM PDTGreat cartoon Omid Hast jan!
I especially love it because it is also my favorite quote that I use a lot in my daily life...:-)
I just don't like the veil...I preferred a really small and sheer scarf with almost all the hair out (as you know I am really allergic to roosari!)
That's a good idea.
by Anonymouse on Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:52 PM PDTThat's a good idea. Why don't you paint your afro green Omid?
Everything is sacred.
Sima, you didn't make the connection..
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Wed Jul 29, 2009 01:04 PM PDTbecause Omid had dyed his afro green for the occasion. He told me so. That's why you didn't recognize him here.
lol
Duh, how stupid of me!
by sima on Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:32 PM PDTI think someone even mentioned that connection. I'm just so immersed in the world of many identities right now that don't remember everything!
sima,
by Omid Hast on Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:31 PM PDTYes, we met at the rally. When you were inside the playground you climbed over the railing like a skillful ballet dancer, and then we sat down with other friends on the grass and talked, among other things, about ostovar yekom Parvin Hosseini
(استوار یکم پروین حسینی)
//www.holycrime.com/images/WomenPolice2.bmp
If this comes to you as a surprise revelation, please don't go ka-Boom and reveal my identity
Great!
by sima on Wed Jul 29, 2009 09:55 AM PDTI especially love the Ma Inim part!
(How come we didn't meet you at the rally?!)
Little,
by Omid Hast on Wed Jul 29, 2009 06:24 AM PDTRoshan: Persian name meaning Light and Bright, as in illumination and intelligence.
I thought Roshan was the closest name I could find to Rosie, in "Rosie the Riveter", but any of the names of those brave Iranian women would do also.
good one
by Little Tweet on Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:06 PM PDThala chera roshan, or did you mean Roshanak? Nice one anyway!
Quebeqi,
by Omid Hast on Tue Jul 28, 2009 08:17 PM PDTWell, when I finished it last night I knew it was good but now I'm sort of amazed how much people have liked it, especially since you believe it to be my best cartoon. Thank you so much. Iranian women have been amazingly brave in the last couple on months and this is just a small token of my appreciation.
