Lion Heartz

As a young child, I grew up as a Persian Sufi Dervish and understood what being one was all about. As a young boy, I would get into countless confrontations over the color of my skin, friend, ego and who we thought was the toughest. My father would always see me come home with a black eye and a bruised body. He decided I should learn some self-defense, in order to defend myself and learn self control. My father who was a brown belt, and had three years in the Persian Royal Air Force, and was advanced in Persian Martial arts called: “Varzesheh Pahlevooni”>>>

به بهانه اشاعه فرهنگ ایرانی!

جالب این است که این مراسم باز هم تحت عنوان اشاعه فرهنگ ایرانی برگزار میشود این جشنها و گردهمائی ها هم میتوانست موثر واقع شود اگر اشاعه بخش فرهنگ خردگرایانه ، انسانی ایرانیان در کنار رقص های زیبا با لباسهای مختلف و غذاها جلوه گر میشد. اما متاسفانه در این مراسم قسمت های با ارزش فرهنگ ما که تاکید بر همدلی انسانها ی مستقل از ملیت اشان دارد به نمایش گذاشته نمیشود.>>>

طرفدارانِ دوآتشه

آخرین تکواندوکار تیم ایران هم از مسابقه حذف شد. با دلسردی مشغول جمع کردن وساﺋلم از زیر صندلی بودم که فریاد "ایران، ایران" واضحتر از همهمه های گنگ حاکم بر سالن به گوشم رسید. این تشویق نابهنگام و غیرمترقبه گویا خیلی از ایرانیهای دیگر حاضر در سالن مسابقه را نیز متعجب کرده بود. همه نگاهها به گروهی از طرفداران که مشغول نواختن طبل و سرودن شعار بودند دوخته شده بود. >>>

Accidental emigrants?

We are, for the most part, law abiding, tax-paying citizens who are assets to our communities, but we tend to shy away from American politics, be apathetic to political developments, and disinterested in local elections. Why is that? Is it because over the past three decades each of us has been catapulted into this new land initially as a “temporary measure,” which turned into a serious, unplanned, and permanent reality? Is it because we see ourselves as “accidental emigrants,” not sure what to do now that we have stayed and have gone on to have children, businesses, and careers here?>>>

اخیرا در یکی از تلویزیونهای محلی شمال کالیفرنیا ( آپادانا ، یکی از بیست واندی تلویزیون فارسی زبان مدافع منافع آمریکا) مدیر تلویزیون به همراه ۳ تن دیگر ، خبر از تشریف فرمائی خانم کلینتون را به شمال کالیفرنیا دادند و به همین مناسبت کمیته ای متشکل از ایرانیان طرفدار ایشان اقدام به برگزاری ضیافت شامی کرده اند تا بتوانند بنا بر ادعای خودشان با جمع آوری کمک های کلان مالی خانم کلینتون را ازباغ منزل میزبانشان به کاخ سفید روانه کنند ! مسلما در آمریکا اینگونه کمپین ها صد ها سال است که بوسیله بیلیونرها و کمپانی ها فراملی مختلف تحت نام دموکراسی برپا میشود. >>>

Somebody, please adopt me...

I am a citizen of two countries. Or is it "I am citizens of two countries?" Never the less, in one hand I hold the passport of United States of America, in another Islamic Republic of Iran. Well, they're not in my hands actually; they're in a file cabinet. I have two countries, two citizenships, and yessssss, two leaders. Holly shit I have two leaders. One says, in a public forum, in front of faculty and students of one of the most prestigious universities in the US, if not the world, "we don't have homosexuality in Iran like you do here in America". Did he not sit next to anyone peculiar in the bus in Iran? Was there no one in his school with extra wrist and hand motions while talking?>>>

زبان مادری

یکی از چیزهایی که بعد از مهاجرت خیلی سریع تفییر می کند، زبان است. یاد گرفتن زبان کشور جدید برای مهاجران لازمه بدست آوردن کار و جذب شدن در جامعه میزبان است. از این رو از همان روزهای نخست سعی می کنیم تا هرچه سریعتر هر آنچه که از این زبان جدید نمی دانیم به حوزه دانسته هایمان اضافه کنیم. ولی گاه چنان در این امر جدیت بخرج می دهیم که متوجه عوارض جانبی آن نمی شویم: بعضی از مهاجرانی که فرزند خردسال دارند با این استدلال که کودک هرچه سریعتر باید زبان محیط را بیاموزد (ولی شاید با این نیت که خودشان فرصت تمرین این زبان جدید را در گفتگو با فرزندشان پیدا کنند) به زبان جامعه میزبان با فرزندشان حرف میزنند.>>>

آقای میلانی! زمانی که ناصر زرافشان چهره جسور و مبارز و محبوب مردم ایران شما را بی صلاحیت ، بیسواد ،كسى كه با باد مى چرخد ، عمله فکری نظام مالی و فاقد صلاحیت ادبی می نامد، اینها توهین و پرخاش نیستند. به اینها ترور شخصیت نمی گویند. اینها ارزیابی منتقد از موضوع نقد می باشد. به اینها می گویند نقد سیاسی. پلیمیک و جدل سیاسی و یا اجتماعی مهمانی خانه عمه جان نیست که فقط قربان صدقه هم بروند. رسم و رسومش با مصاحبه های انحصاری که شما اینور و آنور راه می اندازید فرق دارد. این جا هدف هندوانه زیر بغل هم گذاشتن و تملق گوئی نیست . اینجا نقد است و جدل و چالش >>>

ا ز تهران تا تورنتو

با دستگیری ( عادل _ الف) 48 ساله ساکن تورنتو در فرودگاه پیرسون (1) به اتهام همراه داشتن و وارد کردن 8/3 کیلو گرم تریاک به کانادا یک پرونده دیگر به لیست قاچاقچیان تریا ک اضافه شد و بار دیگر وسوسه پولدار شدن سریع یک نفر را به زندان انداخت . د رهر حال از انجا که این دستگیری اولین مورد نبوده و آخرین ان هم نخواهد بود بهتر است که کمی به این پدیده خانمانسوز که راه خود را از شرق به غرب همراه عده کمی از مهاجرین ناخلف باز کرده است بپردازیم .

My favorite sport

I have to say that football (or soccer, as it is called here) was definitely my favorite team sports. I played the game, along with my classmates, during most of our school years. I would not be exaggerating if I said that we played over 250 days a year! I have many good memories of playing; not only with my classmates, but also joining an impromptu game with people I would meet during my travels around the country. For instance, playing with locals on Kish Island, our in an Air Force base in Ahvaz, or some village kids in Kalardasht. The best memories are from the practice sessions we used to have in Sa’ad Abbad with members of the Iranian National Team!>>>

Love at first site

I had waited for this moment for a long time - ever since I was a little boy, my father would take me to construction sites. I have vivid memories of the slender, brown, glazed tiles in the stairwell of the seven story office building my father built in Tehran more than thirty years ago. I have vague recollections of him and his architect trying to figure out how to add a second basement after the building was nearly completed - something which they did while everyone held their breath. I remember going to pick out land with my parents and my sister for a house in a new development west of the city - Tract 103. I remember going to the Design Architect’s office with my dad. >>>
