Recently, I attended a fundraising by International Society for Children with Cancer (ISCC) for MAHAK. I admit I didn’t know much about these organizations. I could blame such ignorance on a number of excuses, but my ultimate comfort came from the fact that it’s never too late. I have since learned that ISCC is an affiliate of MAHAK, one of the best children’s cancer centers in the Middle East that for years has offered free treatment to thousands of needy children>>>

بابی توی آینه دکان کوچک سلمانی به خودش نگاه می کند و دستی روی سرش می کشد. موهای کوتاهش مثل مخمل سیاه روی پوست سرش چسبیده. یک حلقه طلایی کوچک توی نرمه گوشش برق می زند. عکس دو تا زن لکاته که با پاهای کلفت و موهای رنگ شده روی مبل کهنه سلمانی نشسته اند و تخمه می شکنند توی آینه افتاده است. شاگرد سلمانی موهای ماشین شده بابی را با برس نرمی از پشت گردن و عرق چین سفید او می تکاند>>>

هر روز که ساعت شش از خواب بیدار می شوم، گربه ی خانم میشیگان کنارم نشسته و با چشمان باز نگاهم می کند. در طی این شش سال که از خانم میشیگان اجازه ی نگه داریش را گرفته ام نگهبان من بوده، و حتی وقتی که از خواب و رویاهایم بیدار می شوم کنارش جلوی میز تحریر می نشینم تا همه ی خواب هایم را تعبیر کند. فکرش را که می کنم می بینم گربه حتی از مارسیا جان هم به من نزدیک تر است>>>

If the ultimate goal of delisting the MEK is to create a political entity with military capacity that could come into play when push comes to shove with Iran, then we’re in for yet another foreign policy disaster. If anything, the whole 9/11 ordeal revealed in a spectacular way that enhancing an extremist organization and tactically allying with it in order to gain strategic advantage over a bigger foe is not necessarily the best long-term policy>>>

Let's face it the battle lines between Iran and the US over Iran's alleged pursuit of a nuclear weapon, are about as thin as the hair on Khamenei's Ghormeh Sabzi smelling head. But until the day when Iran announces it though, we'll never actually know. Actually now that I think about it, even then, we won't ever know. I mean even if they showed us a, iPhone or Android taken 3DHD video or even an 8 megapixel picture taken by an iPad(2) or Motorola Xoom (x pronounced z), of a tall donkey (or camel?) phallus shaped missile with a radioactive symbol painted alongside the Allah-O-Akbar on it>>>

فصل مشترک تمامی این حوادث این است که یک طرفش ما هستیم و طرف دیگرش غرب. روسیه در اروپا شرق حساب می شود ولی به نظر من برای ما، روسها هم جزوی از غرب هستند. همه این شکستها نشان دهنده این است که ما در پانصد سال گذشته (تو بگو دویست سال) غرب را نشناختیم، هیچ، حتی سعی نکردیم شروع به این شناخت بکنیم. به قول سون تزو اسراتژیست نظامی چین باستان، اگر نه خودت را بشناسی و نه حریفت را، بعید به نظر میرسد که در نبردی پیروز بشوی. ما که خودمان را نمی شناسیم>>>

I don’t want to pigeon hole people, but I don’t think it’s a far stretch to say … someone that sells guns for a living is not going to be a tree hugging, peace & love touting hippie … with zero support for the anti-immigrant, anti-gun control, anti-Obama crowd. Maybe to her, we’re “firners” who should not be living in the U.S. at all, and should be “f***ed” as much as possible. I don’t know. For the life of me I don’t understand why there is so much bad will>>>

To say that Iran may get a nuclear weapon and become a potential threat to its neighbors is one thing; to say that it is a threat to the United States is another. Yet too many conservatives continue to confuse the two, or as the former head of the U.S. Central Command retired Army General John Abizaid explained in 2007: "I believe the United States, with our great military power, can contain Iran ... Let's face it: We lived with a nuclear Soviet Union, we've lived with a nuclear China, and we're living with nuclear powers as well.">>>

سالگرد فاجعه کشتار سال ۶۷ فرا رسیده است. این کشتار یکی از بزرگ‌ترین جنایات ضد بشری نیمه دوم قرن بیستم میلادی در سطح جهان بوده است. هزاران نفر در طول چند هفته به صورت مخفیانه و به دلایل عقیدتی و سیاسی در زندان‌های ایران اعدام شدند. شدت و وسعت این کشتار بی سابقه بود، ولی نفس عمل پدیده‌ای استثنایی در حیات جمهوری اسلامی نبود... راحت‌تر و مؤثرتر آن است که از «اعدام‌های دهه اول انقلاب» سخن بگوییم - دهه‌ای که از ۲۲ بهمن ۱۳۵۷ شروع شد و در پاییز ۱۳۶۷ به پایان رسید>>>
