On Sunday, 31 October, Sotoudeh, one of Iran’s most prominent human rights lawyers went on a dry hunger strike protesting her detention and ill treatment inside Tehran’s Evin prison. Suffice it to say Tuesday's elections had me steaming. Never before had we seen such audacious "sore losers getting even" politics as this before. There was more outright Glee on Fox, than Glee on Fox. So sexed was "America of the 50's", I fully expected Boehner the next speaker of the House, to announce that he was officially canceling his Cialis prescription and changing the pronunciation of his name to Boner. He is certainly sporting more wood than the San Francisco Giants!>>>

عین مرده ها خوابیده بودم. نور تند آفتاب داشت چشمانم را اذیت میکرد. یک آن بیدار شدم. تا دقایقی اصلاً نفهمیدم کجا هستم. اندکی گذاشت تا توانستم موقعیت جغرافیاییم را مجدداً کشف کنم. زود سراغ ساعت رفتم. وای خدای من! ساعت نزدیک 11 صبح بود. از این پریاپوس لعنتی چه خبر؟ خیلی گرسنه ام بود. با عجله رفتم پائین. صبحانه مدتها پیش تمام شده و هنوز به وقت نهار مانده بود. در بوفه هتل هول هولکی نفهمیدم چی خوردم. مجدداً بالا رفته و دوش گرفته و هن هن کنان پائین آمدم>>>

جمهوری اسلامی باز به یکی از عادت‌های دیرین خود بازگشته است: کشت، کشتار، کشتار مکرر و آن هم در سکوت. بنا به گزارش‌های موثق، در یک سال و نیم گذشته، صدها نفر در زندان وکیل‌آباد مشهد حلق‌آویز شده‌اند. مقامات رژیم وقوع این کشتارها را تلویحا یا تصریحا تأیید کرده‌اند، ولی از ارائه هرگونه رقم و عددی سر باز می‌زنند. این اعدامیان ظاهرا تماما به اتهامات مربوط به مواد مخدر به مرگ محکوم شده بودند. در بسیاری از موارد، بستگان و خانواده‌های آنان از سرنوشت آنان و روز و زمان اعدامشان آگاهی نداشته‌اند>>>

دماغم اندازه پاشنه ی پام است ولی خدا را شکر –البته شکرم برای بزرگی اش نیست- اصلا کار نمی کند. گاهی کار به جایی می رسد که من هم می فهمم. چه برسد به او. دماغش آن قدر کوچک است که نمی توانم باور کنم اگر سرما بخورد می تواند دماغش را بگیرد. چون دماغش اصلاً توی دست نمی آید. تازه سوراخ هایش را بگو. هر دوتاش قد یک سوراخ هم نیست>>>

I grew up in an era when smoking was cool. Movie stars looked so much better holding a cigarette between their fingers, not to mention James Dean, placing one loosely in the corner of his mouth. Office employees smoked at their desks and even stores didn’t mind smoking customers. At parties and pubs, the air was so thick with smoke that it was hard to see who was there. Etiquette dictated that a gentleman first offer you a cigarette and light it for you. Which would explain the array of lighters -not just the cheap Bic, but Dunhill and later gold DuPont that cost a fortune>>>

A novice observer of American politics might see no discernible meaning for foreign policy in the election since international relations have been shunned by nearly all candidates. The mood was encapsulated by the remark of one oddball politician, solon to be Rand Paul, that "I don't do Afghanistan." That is just the most extreme and blunt declaration in a campaign marked by cultivated ignorance and displays of raw emotion disconnected from reality. It's a narcissistic playground. Ideas and real issues are as unwelcome as is adult supervision>>>
