The Iranian people by their massive presence in the election won on many fronts:
1. Internationally, no aggressor can now dream about an Iran attack when millions of brave Iranians showed their solidarity by standing behind a leader who defended their rights. No dreamer can now hope for a division of Iranian people, or hope to create a wedge between people and their overwhelmingly elected government.
2. Completely opposite to what some people feared, now US-Iran rapprochement will speed up under re-election of Ahmadinejad! Now that US can not continue with a futile dream of a leader that they could possibly push around, US HAS TO proceed quickly with a new friendly Iran policy.
3. Internally, the security felt against foreign threats translated into a more open democracy. The debates opened gates that no one can close again. As a result, the student will be charged up for months and even years to come, and the fracture that was introduced in the well protected factionalism inside Iran will only grow deeper. This is the start of a new phase of maturation of Iranian democracy, and it can only get better from here on!
This was a fantastic victory for Iranians. Congratulations to all participants who frustrated the designs of ill-wishers.
PS. With both camps announcing a "quick" and early win, it is now clear who the real "liar" is :-)
PPS. To find out about real sore losers though, you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

"A crowd of about 3,000 attacked the police, some of whom were on motorbikes, which they set on fire.
The sky was thick with black smoke. Police attacked the crowd with sticks and maybe teargas.
I didn't expect to see people turning on the secret police. We were filming when we were surrounded by angry secret policemen. The crowd turned on them and chased them off.
I suspect we are not looking at a revolution but there is serious anger.
It all depends on how the government responds - if they use violence, that could inflame the situation."

Minadavar, the title of this blog
by Jaleho on Sat Jun 13, 2009 10:05 AM PDTIranians WON BIG. And the highlighted part was:
" As a result, the student will be charged up for months and even years to come, and the fracture that was introduced in the well protected factionalism inside Iran will only grow deeper. This is the start of a new phase of maturation of Iranian democracy, and it can only get better from here on!
This was a fantastic victory for Iranians."
Now you say:
"But the real heroes and stars of this selection/election are the Iranian Youth and nobody else.(students and student leaders).
Which is similar to part of what I am saying. The part we don't agree upon is the fact that Ahmadinejad won 25 million and Mousavi won 13 million votes. I respect the 25 million as much as those 13 million, you clearly disagree with that larger group of Iranians.

Once cornered, instead of replying in a civilized manner, she resorts to demonstrating her lack of any class and usual [sailor mouth] tactic in order to give themselves, ever so pathetically, facade of intellect.
Last time, in the thread you mentioned, I edited my comment due to a request by a very dear friend. But if people like her are not confronted and put back in their places, which is the gutters of Setade Sepahi, then an injustice is done to people of Iran, and to every progressive thinker around the globe.
One can only except so much from a rabid supporter of a criminal entity called IR. Who else would consider them any thing ? Who else will grant them honor of servant of the regime?

by Jaleho on Sat Jun 13, 2009 09:03 AM PDTthat I typically won't bother to argue with you although you are relatively polite and smart enough to be able to carry a debate. However, you are too much into khaleh zanaki and USELESS and TIME CONSUMING back and forth that have no purpose except for a community chat. I am not interested in those.
This time, you had a specific question about appointments by a single person, or elections directly by people or elections (appointments) by council members who are in turn elected directly by people, and I tried to clarify that for you. You can read that or a copy of my post that Captain felt writing AGAIN without knowing that he just repeated my post, from whatever source. To me, the point is understanding something which is fuzzy. I won't continue with further chats, and a simple thank you on your part would have sufficed.
BTW, every ignorant person these days finds it fashionable to poo poo wikipedia which happens to be one of the most formidable internet tools which took the control of information flow away from sources which are in the hand of few. While it is true that there might be some intentional errors in particular in political areas in the wiki, the types of which you can find in many other sources intentionally, wikipedia is a fantastic tool that those elite are affraid of, people who don't have a good foundation in what they say are timid and uncertain about "wiki as a source," yet wikipedia is a REVOLUTION in information. If you had real expertise in any subject, scientific or otherwise, you could be able to check the beauty and strength of wikipedia the way nagging pedstrians who don't have the self-confidence can not!! Meanwhile, any idiot who doesn't even know 1/10 of what is written in wiki on a subject, and is not sure of his own knowledge base, goes on to say :'"but it is not complete!!"

by Mola Nasredeen on Sat Jun 13, 2009 08:28 AM PDT1. He had powerful organizations at his disposal to bring out the vote for him namely Sepah, Baseej and mosques. Those Iranians who have actually lived in Iran after the revolution are familiar with the organizing power of these institutions.
2. His image as a pious man living in a small house in a poor neighborhood appealed to less educated, provincial, poor, and religious Iranians, the majority of Iranians.
3. His attacks against corruptions and corrupted officials and powerful individuals such as Rafsanjani portrayed him as an honest man. He portaryed this group as the cause of economic downturn in Iran.
4. His unwavering and fierce opposition to Zionist occupation of Palestine and to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
5. His unwavering stance against the west in relation to Iranian atomic energy.
6. Giving food subsidies to the poor made him popular among this sector of society.
7. Clerical establishment supported him and they know how to bring out the vote for their candidate. They never trust intellectuals and progressive forces at the helm of Iranian government.
re. Ali Ansari, Darius K, I told you last night
by Jaleho on Sat Jun 13, 2009 08:19 AM PDT"PPS. To find out about real sore losers though, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. "
BTW, it was a pleasure to see the video of protest you provided, like I siad, the debate will go on due to such a powerful presence of almost all Iranian elligible voters. This is a new phase in Iranian democracy.
But DK, as I count them from your video, they seem to be less than 13 million. Are you sure the Mousavai camp didn't bloat their numbers? :-) :-)
Regardless of all the whining of the sore losers, the important foreign leaders who carefully monitored Iranian election in order to tailor their own policy accordingly, heard the people of Iran loud and clear. The Ansaris of the world just proved further that they are irrelevant as policy advisors! Hope they can still keep their chair though.
power structure of Democratic Dictatorship of IR
by capt_ayhab on Sat Jun 13, 2009 08:26 AM PDTFYI for avid supporters of IR:
Ms. Jaleho noted[The supreme leader is ELECTED and can be dismissed by the Assembly of Experts which itself is ELECTED by direct public vote.]
//www.iranchamber.com/government/articles/str...
//www.pbs.org/newshour/indepth_coverage/middl...
Excerpts:
The Assembly of Experts appoints the supreme leader and reconfirms him periodically.
MY NOTE: Assembly of experts all are AKHUNDS[all 86 of them]
Council of Guardians
Composed of six religious members and six lawyers, the Council
of Guardians is a highly influential part of the Iranian government. The supreme leader appoints the six theologians, and the judiciary nominates the six legal experts. The nominations are then subject to parliamentary approval.
Judiciary:
The supreme leader appoints the head of the judiciary, who in turn
appoints the Supreme Court head and the top public prosecutor.
End excerpts
In another word, Council of Guardian appoints Supreme leader and he returns the favor by appointing 6 of council members. The other six are approved by Judiciary, whose head executioners is APPOINTED by supreme leader !!!!
Heck of a set up, You scratch my back and I'll scratch your back, then we both screw people of Iran. ;-)
Where does President fits? we all just witnessed it, SEPAHI and BASIJI democratically ellect him !!!!

So many incorrect assumptions...
by eroonman on Sat Jun 13, 2009 08:14 AM PDTAll this election did was reinforce what those of us who supported boycotting the election said would happen.
This was not a free and fair eection from the very start.
Those of us said so.
You cannot have an election conducted by the government. No matter who loses, they have a legitimate complaint. Government folks, especially Iranian government folks, tend to be high risk for corruption. Even if Moussavi is granted a review, the government will merely clean the data he is given. They wiil never admit fraud. They will never admit a mistake.
Those of us said so.
If the election is contested formally, the best case is Khamenei intercedes. That in itself makes the election and the votes of all the people null and void. And that is not an election. That is a dictatorship appointment.
Which is what those of us who said so, said this was, from the very beginning.
But seriously, you should move to Disneyland, if you think this was good for anyone. sometime in the enxt 4 years, Iran will now acquire a nuke, and that means Israel wil attack, and with the US forces on either side (Iraq and Afghanistan) the life of innocent Iranians has never been more precarious.
All because you think this was "a good learning experience".
Excuse me for disagreeing, but I'd rather have justice.
I respectfully beg to differ, Q

One thing that is completely clear on all sides is this: The boycotters are now irrelevant.
I am a boycotter. Never claimed to be in the majority. Voting is a very personal decision. I am not going to call you a name, if you voted one way, or the other, or chose not to .I think everyone should have voted their conscious. Irrelevant or not, my conscious just would not allow me to vote for either one of these gentlemen.
I wonder ,after this, whose camp sees an increase in membership: The Mousavians, the Ahmadinejadians, or the boycotters.
