Last time, in the thread you mentioned, I edited my comment due to a request by a very dear friend. After watching the Iranian Youth I am hopeful that someday people will be celebrating the ability to participate in a real election and vote for the legitimate candidates.

I can see that Aamadinejad is your hero.  But the real heroes and stars of this selection/election are the Iranian Youth and nobody else.(students and student leaders).

that I typically won't bother to argue with you although you are relatively polite and smart enough to be able to carry a debate. However, you are too much into khaleh zanaki and USELESS and TIME CONSUMING back and forth that have no purpose except for a community chat. I am not interested in those.

This time, you had a specific question about appointments by a single person, or elections directly by people or elections (appointments) by council members who are in turn elected directly by people, and I tried to clarify that for you. You can read that or a copy of my post that Captain felt writing AGAIN  without knowing that he just repeated my post, from whatever source. To me, the point is understanding something which is fuzzy. I won't continue with further chats, and a simple thank you on your part would have sufficed.

BTW, every ignorant person these days finds it fashionable to poo poo wikipedia which happens to be one of the most formidable internet tools which took the control of information flow away from sources which are in the hand of few. While it is true that there might be some intentional errors in particular in political areas in the wiki, the types of which you can find in many other sources intentionally, wikipedia is a fantastic tool that those elite are affraid of, people who don't have a good foundation in what they say are timid and uncertain about "wiki as a source," yet wikipedia is a REVOLUTION in information. If you had real expertise in any subject, scientific or otherwise, you could be able to check the beauty and strength of wikipedia the way nagging pedstrians who don't have the self-confidence can not!! Meanwhile, any idiot who doesn't even know 1/10 of what is written in wiki on a subject, and is not sure of his own knowledge base, goes on to say :'"but it is not complete!!"

It is utterly childish to be calling each other such ugly name[I plead guilty as well]. For gods sake we all claim to be adults, lets act our age.

Whether anyone voted or not[deeply personal decision] most everyone in either side[voted or not] KNEW that this was not going to be a fair election. Even everyone outside, Iranian and otherwise are at awe about how ridicules these results are. People did not win, they got shafted big time, again.........

Ahmadinejad won because..

1. He had powerful organizations at his disposal to bring out the vote for him namely Sepah, Baseej and mosques. Those Iranians who have actually lived in Iran after the revolution are familiar with the organizing power of these institutions.

2. His image as a pious man living in a small house in a poor neighborhood appealed to less educated, provincial, poor, and religious Iranians, the majority of Iranians. 

3. His attacks against corruptions and corrupted officials and powerful individuals such as Rafsanjani portrayed him as an honest man. He portaryed this group as the cause of economic downturn in Iran.

4. His unwavering and fierce opposition to Zionist occupation of Palestine and to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

5. His unwavering stance against the west in relation to Iranian atomic energy. 

6. Giving food subsidies to the poor made him popular among this sector of society.

7. Clerical establishment supported him and they know how to bring out the vote for their candidate. They never trust intellectuals and progressive forces at the helm of Iranian government.

Regardless of all the whining of the sore losers, the important foreign leaders who carefully monitored Iranian election in order to tailor their own policy accordingly, heard the people of Iran loud and clear. The Ansaris of the world just proved further that they are irrelevant as policy advisors! Hope they can still keep their chair though.

So many incorrect assumptions...

All this election did was reinforce what those of us who supported boycotting the election said would happen.

This was not a free and fair eection from the very start.

Those of us said so.

You cannot have an election conducted by the government. No matter who loses, they have a legitimate complaint. Government folks, especially Iranian government folks, tend to be high risk for corruption. Even if Moussavi is granted a review, the government will merely clean the data he is given. They wiil never admit fraud. They will never admit a mistake.

Those of us said so.

If the election is contested formally, the best case is Khamenei intercedes. That in itself makes the election and the votes of all the people null and void. And that is not an election. That is a dictatorship appointment.

Which is what those of us who said so, said this was, from the very beginning.

But seriously, you should move to Disneyland, if you think this was good for anyone. sometime in the enxt 4 years, Iran will now acquire a nuke, and that means Israel wil attack, and with the US forces on either side (Iraq and Afghanistan) the life of innocent Iranians has never been more precarious.

All because you think this was "a good learning experience".

 I am a boycotter. Never claimed to be in the majority. Voting is a very personal decision. Shah syndrome

This is cool, now there is a name invented for this disease, its called "Shah syndrome", its when dictators try to gain respectability by playing democracy.
