Congressional supporters of the drive to remove the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) from the U.S. terrorism list defended the organization’s use of violence while dismissing Iran’s nonviolent Green Movement at a hearing on Capitol Hill last week. The hearing was also remarkable in that senior leaders of the designated foreign terrorist organization were caught counseling some of the witnesses before the hearing. It is illegal to coordinate with a foreign terrorist organization to advocate on behalf of the terrorist group>>>

I was there. It happened. The student protests of 1999 started with the closing of a reformist newspaper, grew into more than 50,000 young people coming out into the streets of Tehran, and countless others who protested in cities all over the country. The protests ended with the imprisonment of thousands of those of us who participated. Back then, we were for the first time vocal in our questioning of our government. Before 18 Tir, people in our country wouldn’t dare come out in protest with slogans like “down with the dictator” or “down with Khameini.”>>>

Despite all political and moral pressure Iran faces worldwide, it has designed its narrative in such a way that it calls every UN resolution an American one, and instead of responding to the cases of human rights violations in Iran, it attacks Washington directly and offers instances of human rights violations in the U.S. It's not surprising that attacking the U.S. on human rights appeals to some countries, particularly those that, next to Iran, bear a similar international pressure>>>

In the 10 years that I have lived in Washington, I have never seen lobbyists for al-Qaeda parade through the halls of Congress. I have not seen any events on Capitol Hill organized by Hamas. And I have not seen any American politicians take campaign contributions from the Islamic Jihad. But the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), an organization with the blood of Americans and Iranians alike on its hands, freely does all of these things, despite being a designated foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government>>>

کمتر ازیک قرن ازظهوراولین خواننده زن ایرانی، قمرالملوک وزیری می گذرد. زنی که نه تنها به خاطر هنر و صدای بی بدیلش بلکه به خاطر شجاعتش در شکستن قیدها و بندهای پوسیده جامعه ستایش می شود. در سالهای بعد این اوضاع کمی بهتر شد. آشنایی و آگاهی مردم با هنرهای مختلف و ملل دیگر و آمدن رسانه های جدید رفته رفته این هنجارها را تغییرداد>>>

حلقه محاصره محمود احمدی‌نژاد روز به روز تنگ‌تر می‌شود. قدرت او در انتصاب مقامات حتا در سطح معاون وزیر محدود شده و اطرافیان او یکی پس از دیگری بازداشت و به «اعتراف» کشانده می‌شوند. مجلسیان برای استیضاح و عزل او صف‌آرایی کرد‌اند، و قوه قضاییه از بازداشت‌های دیگر افراد نزدیک به او خبر می‌دهد. تنها نیرویی که ظاهرا در برابر این فشارها از او حمایت می‌کند شخص علی خامنه‌ای است>>>
