DREAM

26-Nov-2011 (3 comments)

IRAN-U.S.

Victories That Never Were

Obama’s Iran policies were never all that effective

24-Nov-2011 (13 comments)
It wasn’t so long ago that the Obama administration was proudly proclaiming success in dealing with Iran, succeeding where the Bush administration had failed. For a time, a presumably weakened and isolated Iran was less of a worry. Today, America’s Iran policy looks to be in disarray. The administration’s claims of victory ring hollow. Far from subdued, Iran is more defiant and belligerent. And the broad international coalition that the U.S. built against the country has splintered>>>

THREAT

24-Nov-2011 (10 comments)

PROTEST

What Do We Want? When Do We Want It?

Learning from "Angry Birds", the world's newest religion

24-Nov-2011
Watching the seeming chaos of the Occupy protests and the general lack of organization or the absence of any real political practical point to them, eerily reminds me of Iranians. We too have in many ways protested our plight as the fast dying last least free people on earth. Well, not exactly. Well, sort of. If being haplessly un-free was Maple Syrup, Iran would be the world's Waffle House. And the joke, is entirely on us.>>>

NOVEL

Out of the Gray

Story of love between a neuroscientist and a social scientist

24-Nov-2011
The novel explores the mind, consciousness, conscience, memory, biochemistry of love, and happiness, sexuality in all its manifestations in nature, mental illness, and the relationship between the artificial and biological consciousness. The origin of God in human mind is explored to the delight of believers and none-believers alike. The wit embedded in exhilarations, the anxieties and the gloom of characters will induce even a reader with a heart of stone, to laugh and/or to shed tears. Juices of life will flow Out of the Gray and ferment into a cosmic cocktail>>>

REVOLUTIONARY

22-Nov-2011 (31 comments)

FOROUHARS

The Swallow and Her Butterflies

On the 13th anniversary of Parvaneh and Dariush Forouhar’s murder

22-Nov-2011 (6 comments)
In the corner of the gallery in Berlin, I saw the paintings I had come to see -those by Parastou (whose name means swallow) Forouhar- the ones with the many butterflies and guns, as well as the chess tables. Next to the table where I sat to rest a bit before looking at each individual painting and sketch, I spotted a brochure about the artist. I then went over to the gallery attendant, a young man, and asked him, “Do you know what the story is behind these butterflies?” He said “No, but would you mind telling me?” So I did>>>

COMMUNITY

Children of Persia

Fulfilling, fun, and productive way to involve our children youth

22-Nov-2011
Children of Persia has long relied upon volunteers to help fulfill its mission and goals. This has included recruiting and encouraging children, teens and young adults to participate, to create and to organize their own projects for advancing the organization’s mission. The organization has seen time and again that, with encouragement and guidance, these young volunteers can make a commitment to plan and implement activities. They will, if allowed, take on responsibility >>>

IRAN-ISRAEL

When You Love to Hate your Enemy

Interview with Israeli-American scholar Dr. Avner Cohen

20-Nov-2011 (11 comments)
I do not think that Israel will attack Iran anytime soon. Specifically, I believe there is low likelihood of an Israeli attack in the coming six months. But it all depends on how circumstances develop. I firmly believe that much of the current talk about Israel attacking Iran is just posturing. I do believe that Iran continues to develop expertise in all aspects of nuclear weapons research and development, but I am unsure whether Iran is actually manufacturing nuclear weapons>>>

DEMOCRACY

If we really want it

Our unresolved national dilemma, part 2

20-Nov-2011 (8 comments)
Yes! I am a Monarchist, I am a republican, I am a green activist I am a supporter of MKO I am a communist. I am all and I am none. Confused? Good. May be that is the first step. By breaking the preset barriers and starting to see the world in a new light, where there are no black and whites and no absolutes. Just a big shade of gray where we need to compromise in a daily basis in order to find the best solutions to a set of complicated constantly evolving problems

KASRAI

The Red Bead

I’m wondering if I’ll ever see another performance that might leave me with such an indelible image

20-Nov-2011
My last minute purchase gave me tickets in the worst possible seats, but I soon found out it didn’t matter where you sat. Before I knew it, the dancers, their flawless costumes, the immaculate choreography and eloquent narration had lifted me off my seat to indulge in an ethereal experience. The drums, the light and the backdrop of Shahnameh’s pages added the perfect touch to this outstanding production. Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam may be new to the art scene in the U.S., but just wait and see where his art will lead us next>>>
