Showdown for Ataturk’s Republic

United States must balance its desire for regional stability with steadfast support for and cooperation with the Turkish government

15-Nov-2007 (18 comments)
Turkey’s ethnic Kurds, the majority of who recently voted for the Justice and Development Party, oppose PKK’s agenda. The Kurdish people recognize that the guerrilla fastidious escapades have promoted regional and international political upheaval. Once, isolated and prone to factionalism, the guerrilla movement is on the rise due to the dire situation in northern Iraq. The Turkish government, which believes Turkish citizens should have no loyalty outside of the state, has responded. On October 17th, the Turkish parliament voted 507-19 to authorize cross-border raids into northern Iraq to root out the PKK. >>>

VOA

Propaganda onion

Today, Western propaganda has matured in sophistication

14-Nov-2007 (110 comments)
What is good for an Iranian is good for an American, an Arab, a Chinese, etc. And what is bad for an American, as the US Congress has clearly stated in case of VOA, is bad for an Iranian and everyone else. Ironically, it’s the ultimate manifestation of smart, educated minds rotten by propaganda that when they know VOA and Radio Farda are sources of propaganda, they still approve of their broadcasts.>>>

Excerpt from new political novel on U.S.-Iran war

[Author's Podcast] The President of the United States from the Oval Office, Washington D.C., April 20, 2010: “My fellow citizens, at this moment we are in the midst of an aerial and naval campaign to eliminate once and for all the nuclear threat with which the Iranian regime has defied the international community for years. On my orders, the Armed Forces of the United States of America have begun to strike selected targets that form an integral part of the nuclear weapons program of the Iranian regime or are assigned to protect these facilities..."

Autumnal comforts

Salads are out, soups are in

14-Nov-2007 (13 comments)
Every autumn, I set myself a new task to learn how to make dishes, I was always too apprehensive or just too lazy to try and make. I always love making fresh homemade soups, they are so easy to make if you have a hand blender and so deliciously moreish too. They can be low in carbs, low in fat… Basically low in whatever you want them to be as YOU are controlling what you put in them! So much better than opening a can of soup and SO much fresher and more flavoursome. Once you start making your own soups, you will never go back to buying them again>>>

Life before and after

I told my brother in Iran I will bomb you all to see how it feels to mess with my country

14-Nov-2007 (13 comments)
On the morning of the Sept. 11 I was watching NBC news while putting my cloths on. You know that’s my habit of watching news while half naked, munching my breakfast, or shaving. The news anchor said that there is breaking news coming regarding an object that has hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I thought that it might be a small plane or something that has hit the building accidentally. So I went on my morning rituals, listening to the news in my car and at school via internet whenever I had a chance. When I heard again that another passenger plane has hit the second tower I went nuts>>>

An Iranian Baha'i's letter to President Ahmadinejad

13-Nov-2007 (148 comments)
Mr. President, as you well know, there are over 6.5 million Baha'i's in the world; more than Jews and Zorasterians combined. There is no one country that has a great majority of its population consisting of Baha'is. We reside in every country in every continent of this globe. In over 90% of non Islamic countries, the Bahai faith is recognized as a religion and the Baha'is of said countries enjoy the freedoms offered to all its citizen equally. Additionally, the United Nations recognizes the Baha'i' faith as a major religion>>>

دفاع شیرین خانم عبادی از پرونده قتل زهراها

13-Nov-2007 (25 comments)

HOMOSEXUALITY

When God & Darwin see eye to eye!

If indeed a gene was responsible for the behaviour it would have been eliminated by natural selection?

13-Nov-2007 (15 comments)
As the battle between proponents of intelligent design and evolution rages particularly in US there is something rather odd to make a note of. Considering homosexuality to be a deviation from what is normal and natural has made strange bedfellows form religious right and evolutionary scientists. The opposition to homosexuality in Koran for example could hardly be stronger considering the story of "Loot" society being destroyed by God because of their homosexual acts. >>>

Part 3 of "Where do we go from here"

13-Nov-2007 (14 comments)
The reason that I do not advocate a war against Islam is not because of my blind faith, but because I believe it to be the wrong war and irrelevant to our goals. To me personally, Islam is a tool. No more no less. A tool cannot be praised or blamed for the way it is used. Now, let me elaborate. Imagine a carving knife. A knife on its own cannot be good or bad. In the hand of a great artist like Leonardo Davinchi a knife can be used to create the greatest sculpture masterpieces and the same knife in the hands on a murderer can be used to kill innocent people.>>>

Welcome home

I knew I was at the cross roads

12-Nov-2007 (2 comments)
I was back to my home after many years I was filled with excitement. From the looks of the buildings and construction it looked as though there were certainly more people in the city then before. As I approached the gate to the city I noticed something was weird about my surroundings everyone was frozen, they were not able to move they just stood like ice sculptures frozen in time. I drove through the Main boulevards and realized that this phenomenon was apparent across the city. Everyone was a wax sculpture.>>>

Journey to Tehran

Iranians are strong-willed, dynamic, courteous... and fatalistic in a pessimistic way

12-Nov-2007 (90 comments)
Tehran greeted me on January 3rd, 2007 around 5 am at the Tehran International Airport Mehrabad where courteous but thorough officials waved me through immigration to The Islamic Republic of Iran. The legendary hospitality of the Orient was fully confirmed as a committee, dispatched by the Conference that I was to attend, sent at this inconvenient hour three members to greet me with a beautiful flower arrangement. I went to many Conferences in my lifetime but was never made to feel so welcome or special! This is what I call civilization at its best—especially when one realizes that I am the holder of an American passport that at the present time distinguished me as not an ideal guest.>>>
