The Iranian state-controlled radio and television, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), has acted as an arm of intelligence and security agencies implicated in gross human rights violations since the disputed presidential election of June 2009. Research by International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran and investigations into the content of programs produced and broadcast by the IRIB reveal a close working relationship between intelligence and judiciary officials in charge of prosecuting post-election detainees, such as in the case of Maziar Bahari, a Newsweek journalist who was detained last year>>>

China and Iran have retained a strong sense of utmost respect for one another’s cultures. Throughout history it has been obvious that despite not having a border with each other and yet the two have never been to war and have been “natural allies” the Chinese have been allies with Iran for over 1,000 years. As well this China and Iran have heavily influenced each other; Chinese art seems to have intertwined with that of Iran while early Chinese military seems to have heavy influence from Iran such as the Parthian shot. In my view Iran and China will remain close allies for at least another 1,000 years to come>>>

امروز جوانان ایرانی به طرز فزاینده ای پیگیر حق برخورداری آزاد از شادی و ابراز عمومی آن در عرصه های گوناگون زندگانی خود هستند. حق پیگیری شادی سرشت دموکراسی های متعارف در جهان است. جمله ی مشهور بیانیه ی استقلال آمریکا به قلم تامس جفرسون برای نخستین بار به فراگیری این حق موجودیت رسمی و تاریخی بخشید: ((همه ی انسان ها مساوی خلق شده اند و خالق آنها حقوقی مشخص و غیر قابل تصرف را در نهادشان به ودیعه گذارده است که سه مورد آن عبارت است از زندگانی، آزادی و پیگیری شادی)).>>>

ژولیو دیگر برده خطاب نمی شد. ماه آفرید حالا او را پسر می نامید. ژولیو آرزو می کرد دختر جوان او را به نام صدا کند هر چند این آرزو را یک رویای دور از واقعیت می پنداشت. شاهزاده خانم آرام گام برداشت و چرخی در اتاق زد. سپس دوباره بسوی جوان ملتهب بازگشته روبرویش ایستاد. دختر جوان با نگاهی آرام و وسوسه کننده به ژولیو می نگریست. گویی با نگاهش او را نوازش می کرد. آهسته گفت: دوست دارم به روم بروم! تو حاضری مرا به روم ببری؟!>>>

انتشار متن سخنان یک مقام امنیتی/نظامی جمهوری اسلامی به نام سردار مشفق تصویری مسخره و در عین حال خطرناک و نگران کننده از ذهنیت حاکم بر مقامات ایران به دست می‌دهد. در این گفتار کمتر کسی از مقامات پیشین و اکنون جمهوری اسلامی از برچسب دشمن و توطئه‌گر و آلت دست خارجی در امان مانده است، و حتا اصول‌گرایانی مانند علی لاریجانی رییس مجلس رژیم و محمد باقر قالیباف نیز خواسته یا ناخواسته به مجریان منویات دشمنان داخلی یا قدرت‌های خارجی تبدیل شده‌اند و یا در خطر آن بوده‌اند>>>

A friend and colleague, Ehsan Abdoh Tabrizi has been held in the notorious Evin prison since mid January of this year. A fourth year PhD candidate at the School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA) at Durham University, Abdoh Tabrizi went back to Iran in during the Christmas holiday in December 2009 to visit his family, especially to see his mother who has been stricken with MS. Abdoh Tabrizi is particularly close to his mother and her illness has been a source of great concern to him>>>

Tudeh Party which had expanded its influence and operations throughout the country by taking advantage of democratic atmosphere of the country, had found a good foothold among working class especially Iranian oil workers in southern province of Khuzestan. Oil, once again became a hot topic in the politics of Iran. Americans who had a long term plan to enter the oil business activities in Iran and had failed the first attempt due to meddling of Tudeh Party and Soviets during Prime Minister Sa'ed, did not intend to let others get away with sweet deals that they were getting from Iranians without sharing it with them>>>

This book is the outgrowth of my own ‘embodied experience of borders’, of ethnographic fieldwork among undocumented migrants between 2004 and 2008, and of teaching courses on irregular migration and the anthropology of borders. It also emerges from my activities outside academia: freelance journalism, helping arrange events such as film festivals about border crossing, and volunteer work for NGOs helping failed asylum seekers and undocumented migrants in Sweden. In my years as an anthropologist, I have been astonished at how my informants’ experiences overlapped, confirmed, completed, and recalled my own experiences of borders>>>

For the pundits, there are only two questions about U.S.-Iran relations that are of any importance: (1) Will Israel and/or the United States attack Iran? and (2) will the new sanctions have enough bite to persuade Iran to change its nuclear policy? Despite all the printers ink spilled on these two issues, the answers are an easy no and no. Neither the United States nor Israel will take the military option off the table, thereby giving the pundits (and the crowd that is dying to repeat Iraq) latitude to keep the distant prospect of military action on the front pages, where it has been for years>>>

We have argued for some time that the policy debate about Iran here in the United States is distorted by a number of "myths" -- myths about the Islamic Republic, its foreign policy, and its domestic politics. We were reminded of this by Jim Hoagland's column Sunday in the Washington Post -- particularly the passage in which he chastises President Obama for citing sanctions "as the cause of unrest" in Iran. In Hoagland's view, this reading "does a disservice to the humanity of Iran's simmering revolt," which is playing the "dominant role in the popular uprising" that is taking place in the Islamic Republic>>>

ژولیو در بخش بیرونی ایوان کاخ جاماسپ منتظر ایستاده بود تا شاهزاده او را به حضور بپذیرد. با آنکه سراپا خیس بود اما احساس سرما نمی کرد. بجز صدای بارش باران صدایی به گوش نمی رسید. ژولیو در آن فضای خلوت و آرام به ریزش باران و برخورد قطرات آب با زمین خیره شده و در افکار خود شناور بود که ناگهان آذرخشی سهمگین اندیشه هایش را از هم گسست. متعاقب آن چند آذرخش دیگر هم آسمان را که با ابرهای سیاه پوشیده شده بود روشن ساختند>>>
