A Mad Mad World

Do I want to get out soon? Yes, sooner than later!

06-Nov-2011 (5 comments)
I don’t know if I should cry or laugh these days. I have cried quite a lot since losing a dear friend so now I want to laugh a bit. Like many Iranians I am also on Facebook. Frankly, there are times when I want to get out for good. It is a waste of time if you think about it. Though at times, it is nice to be in touch with some people otherwise you won’t be communicating with. But the world of cyberspace is clearly a crazy world>>>

AHMADINEJAD

Stuck between brothers

Khamenei uses Larijanis to leverage pressure on the president

03-Nov-2011
For now, the embattled Ahmadinejad will stay put as the regime undoubtedly takes further steps to neutralize and contain him for the remaining months of his presidency. But even as unlikely as the above scenario may presently seem, it would only represent the growing anxiety that Khamenei must currently be feeling. If current political divisions would not be healed with Ahmadinejad's exit, then it is doubtful that these divisions actually arise from the actions of one controversial and unreliable executive>>>

How About NO Sanctions AT ALL?

Here's my version of the letter NIAC wanted me to send

03-Nov-2011 (19 comments)
Recently I was invited by NIAC to send a pre-written letter opposing the new round of sanctions against Iran as a result of the Saudi Ambassador Assassination plot by Iran uncovered by the US. NIAC's letter is good (a bit too long if you ask me), to be fair, it covers all the usual areas of concern that NIAC has and it is convenient and harmless if you are a member and don't actually care what NIAC does but want to claim you do. Just like that iPhone you own, but don't know how to use either>>>

مصاحبه خانم کلینتون و واکنش اپوزیسیون

02-Nov-2011 (3 comments)

Guatemala's Mossadegh

And you thought bananas were just a fun to eat

02-Nov-2011 (2 comments)
After the Oil company funded US coup in Iran in 1953, and the successful overthrow of Mossadegh by the CIA, another coup was carried out in Guatemala in 1954. This time under the funding and encouragement of the American United Fruit Company, later named Chiquita, as it became clear that under freely elected President Jacobo Arbenz, land that was unused by Chiquita would be given to peasants and farmers in order to develop additional and alternative agriculture to the dominant single crop banana plantations that Chiquita had built in Guatemala for decades>>>

Iranian assassination plot allegations

31-Oct-2011 (16 comments)
Allegations of an Iranian assassination plot in Washington follows well-calculated objectives when one considers that the allegations have surfaced at a time that the United States is grappling with dire economic conditions and is in deep trouble due to the ongoing developments in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia’s fragile situation, shaky position of Israel in the region, Iran’s special status, forthcoming US elections and the US plan to withdraw its forces from Iraq and Afghanistan>>>

Chinese companies aid Iran to track opponents, censorship

27-Oct-2011 (2 comments)
When Western companies pulled back from Iran after the government's bloody crackdown on its citizens two years ago, a Chinese telecom giant filled the vacuum. Huawei Technologies Co. now dominates Iran's government-controlled mobile-phone industry. In doing so, it plays a role in enabling Iran's state security network. Huawei recently signed a contract to install equipment for a system at Iran's largest mobile-phone operator that allows police to track people based on the locations of their cellphones>>>

NEGOTIATE

Grab this Opportunity

Washington should do the right thing

27-Oct-2011 (2 comments)
All the pieces in the puzzle of piling up pressure on Iran are coming together. Once completed, they will form a picture that could harbinger continued crisis or new opportunities. The first piece of the puzzle fell in place when after a brief hiatus during the Arab Spring, an early October surprise catapulted Iran back into news headlines. Whether reckless adventurism or implausible entrapment, the alleged Iranian plot to assassinate a senior Saudi diplomat on American soil stirred up a diplomatic hornet's nest from Washington to Tehran and Riyadh>>>

Khamenei sets stage for a less democratic future

19-Oct-2011 (14 comments)
It looked like business as usual when Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei began a nine-day tour of the western province of Kermanshah last week. But Ayatollah Khamenei appears to be setting the stage for political changes that will further shrivel the democratic aspect of the Islamic Republic. On the road, as usual, Khamenei excoriated Iran's enemies – the United States, Israel, and all the West – and praised the martyrs of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution and the war with Iraq in the 1980s>>>

Iran Uncovers U.S. Plot

Israeli officials declined to comment

Not to be outdone by the US vis-a-vis (Don't you just love saying vis-a-vis?) the sensational Iranian/Used Car/Mexican Cartel (now code named "Low Rider") plot to conduct nastiness on US soil, Iran today announced that it too had uncovered a US plot against Iran, one even better and more cooler and even more sensational than the one the US has. So there! And Kenef!>>>

Trapped in the camp

UN must tread carefully in dealing with Camp Ashraf

17-Oct-2011 (one comment)
On the surface the MEK offer to allow the UNHCR into the camp might look like cooperation and progress. But in the light of the MEK’s past behaviour the agencies involved in the issue of Camp Ashraf would be wise to view this latest stance with deep suspicion. In the book ‘The Life of Camp Ashraf – Mojahedin-e Khalq Victims of Many Masters’ published by Iran-Interlink in September, we warn that “the MEK loyalists will continue to resist and try to provoke violence to prevent any interference in the internal affairs of the camp>>>
