Sought to trace
White Russian Princess’
Footsteps,
In taxi-stand on Rue d’ Bac where
White-guard general stood to salute her smile.
In tunnels of the Metro-underground
I fell behind the fast-paced
Steps,
Mesmerized by the akordeon player’s
Moroccan songs - empty, my heart

His sense of humor and
How he was so witty
A cup of honor and
a spoon of integrity

We can hardly gauge two centuries of Iran’s half baked modernization without appealing to irony
Reflecting on cities is as old as civilization itself. It all started with mythmaking 78 centuries ago as Sumerians speculated about the origins of Ur, Uruk, Kish and Lagash. They believed that their cities were built by Gods. One would think that if anyone knew who built those ziggurats and magnificent walls, they did. Archaic Greeks too insisted that the massive boulders of Mycenae were moved by the giant Cyclops. Masud Bakhshi also starts his tribute to Tehran with the myth that it was founded by a bandit tribe that lived underground and grew excellent pomegranates

You were young and stupid back then but you are not any more. Here you are saying you love this guy
Mira called the other day and wanted to get together. We drove to Aroma Café on Tujunga – a sort of avant-garde hangout in Studio City where the brain of Hollywood converges. Mira had a story to tell and wanted me to give her my opinion. Those who have met me know only too well that I don’t mince words. Clearly Mira was ready for some candid talk. One big mug in each hand, she emerges from the shop gingerly making her way over to the table where I am perched on a rickety chair under the one and only maple tree. She sits across from me intent to lock eyes. I stare at this beauty who is gracefully gliding through her forties

LETTER
Mr. Obama, what happened to your vow to defend democracy against tyranny?
by Parviz Minooee
Mr. Obama, what has happened to the human rights that America has always stood for? Thousands upon thousands of Iranians residing in this country voted for you with the impression that you are a champion of human rights, freedom, and just causes because you yourself have had first-hand experience in discrimination and suppression. Just a few weeks ago you declared Islamic Republics a danger to the world. You are an ardent advocate against terrorism yet clandestine terrorism against the freedom movement in Iran is in full force by the regime and totally ignored by you

Dedicated to the Green Movement
by Amir Houshang Ebtehaj

Today the rain washes your blood
And wipes it from the pavement
There remains only your sunny smile,
Your tall baseball bat
Leaning against the wall,
And your backpack full of books
Waiting for your shoulders

Interference via Twitter, Dreyfuss and the National Endowment for Democracy
In its desire to build citizen to citizen contacts as a prelude to promote official dialogues and ultimately establish a normal diplomatic and commercial relation with the U.S., the Iranian government threw its doors open on U.S. individuals and groups who appeared wanting to allay the differences between the two countries. Although the majority of the peace groups and activists who visited Iran were well-intentioned, there were quite a few who were motivated by the idea of supporting certain political trends against the Iranian government. These individuals and groups were more interested in furthering the U.S. foreign policy objectives in Iran and the Middle East

TOGETHER

SEX
At that moment it reminded me of the phrase Velvet Revoultion and I started to laugh
My friend in the gym told me about a fucking system in Tehran. She told me about a woman, whom I would like to call Z, in the center of this business. Nobody knows Z's real name but she frequents places like boutiques, galleries and movie houses to have contact with her customers, both male and female. Her customers are well-to-do men and women, mostly married, who want to have discreet sex and would pay good money for it. Then she would find men for women or vice-versa and after taking hefty amount of money, will take them to some apartments in different parts of the city for a few hours of passionate sex. No identity asked from any sides of the deal

I do not conform – I do not bend.

the scum of this earth.

in punching my face.
They enjoy denying my pain.
Dragging my bound hands,
smashing my blinded head
