On the way back to my sister's place, I came across a kitchen that sells only fried potatoes ("Belgian fries") in a cone with a various kinds of toppings. I keep telling my friends that this is a simple idea that can bring in lots of money.
It was wonderful seeing her again. She taught me a lot about tolerance. Most of her friends are gay men.
Janne is a great graphic designer and her specialty is fabrics. She showed me one of the towels she recently designed. She's been out of work for a couple of months and getting a new one is going to be very hard, she says.
I was walking in lower Manhattan, near a basement apartment I once lived in. That was in the summer of 1992.
I rang the bell to see if my friend and landlord Janne was still there.
I was amazed she still had a vintage iranian.com t-shirt I gave her in 1996 when I visited her in New York. "I wear it when I water the trees in the street and people come up and ask about the web site."
She was there! The door on the right was for the room I used to rent. The hallway led to
the garden, bathroom, kitchen, and Janne's bedroom.
