New friendships: from left, Poet/Author and scholar Persis Karim, musician Fared Shafinury, Director Taghi Amirani, and media expert Mahdis Keshavarz.
In the “Going ‘Back Home’: Narratives of Exploration and Engagement” panel, this young musician, Fared Shafinury, talked about going back to Iran to find his roots and to learn classical Iranian music under music masters for two years. This is a fascinating story. I will tell it separately when I do a report on Fared and his music.
