We were lucky. The weather was absolutely gorgeous on the day we were there, but often I wondered how people travelled in winter time when the trail is covered in ice and feet of snow.

The only flowers I encountered outside the Qala during my entire stay in Afghnistan. I don't know what they are called, but they had an intoxicating smell.

This is a comparatively wealthy village, because of its strong local tradition of handmade glazed pottery and its relative closeness to Kabul.

I find it ironic that in a country where one often does not find medical facilities for its people, we encountered a sign for an animal clinic.

A makeshift roadside teahouse. In Afghanistan one could very easily spend one's whole day drinking tea. In fact, next time I am travelling there, I would like to do a little project. The project consists of accepting every offer of tea. I wonder how far I would get.
