The white lettering on the building starting with "HALO BAC.4 EOD" indicate the area has been cleared of mines. We saw many of these spray painted on walls along the way.

We stopped here because apparently the Emperor Babur had considered this location for one of his gardens. It affords a spectacular view over the valley.

This was at a roadside shop. These two cars had blocked the way and the drivers were chitchatting with their friends for 15 minutes completely ignoring that we were waiting to pass.

One can see the image of Ahmad Shah Masoud every where, more often than Karzai's. He was a very controversial figure when still alive, but the Afghans seem to regard him as some sort of a hero. The only thing is, it seems you have to be dead first to qualify as a hero. A friend of mine once said, the Afghans like their heros dead.
