I got on a taxi and told the driver that I wanted to visit Xinjiang (Uyghur) Village and have lunch there. The guy told me that the Chinese authority forced the Uyghurs to leave and Xinjiang village does not exist any more. I was very disappointed. I feel Uyghurs are very close to Persians in culture, music, language, cuisine, and religion. I really wanted to meet them!
This restaurant was selling scorpions. There was a sign next to the scorpions saying that scorpions have high protein content. OMG!
I saw a hookah on the dining table and Mao’s picture on the wall. The waiter told me that both Chinese and foreign tourists use the hookah paraphernalia. This is a plain looking hoohak, not as fancy as Persian hookah.
This is a famous alley frequented by tourists. Both sides of the alley are lined with shops and restaurants.
